Print UNEB-Ready Report Cards in Minutes

The last week of term should be about teaching, not three days of compiling report cards by hand. In SqoolHQ, once marks are in the gradebook, every report card is one click away — laid out for a single A4 page, portrait, in the format Ugandan schools use.

Get to the report card

Open Reports, load a class’s Performance, and click the printer icon next to any student. Or open the student directly on the Print report card page. Either way, the card is composed from the live gradebook — no copying marks into a template.

What’s on the page

The card is tuned for one A4 page, portrait, and includes everything a parent needs to read:

• The student’s details
• The subject table with scores and grades
• Totals, percentages, and ranking, calculated automatically
• Attendance for the term
• The class teacher’s and head teacher’s comments
• The next term’s start date

Because totals and ranks come from the same gradebook data the teacher entered, what’s printed is what’s true — no Excel drift, no manual arithmetic to double-check.

Printing it

Use the browser’s Print (Ctrl/Cmd + P) — the on-screen toolbar is hidden on the printed page, so the card comes out clean. Print portrait with default margins: the layout is tuned for A4 at 8 mm margins.

Need to change a comment? Use Edit comments on the print page before printing — teachers can fix a remark without touching the marks.

The UNEB step that stays manual

At the bottom of the card you’ll find the standard line: “This report is invalid without a valid school stamp.” That’s a UNEB convention — and it means the stamp is applied manually after printing, together with the class teacher’s and head teacher’s signatures. The software does the hard part (the format, the arithmetic, the layout); the stamp is the part that has always been, and should stay, in the school’s hands.

From days to an afternoon

Print one card to check the layout, then run the class. With marks already in the gradebook, an entire class’s reports go from “a weekend of formatting” to “an afternoon of stamping and signing.” That’s the whole point: the school keeps its standards, and the office gets its term end back.
